In 2026, I decided to get more involved in supporting and promoting Western Cape BMX racing. The Western Cape has become one of the strongest BMX racing regions in South Africa. Just 10 years ago, there were fewer than 10 BMX racers in Cape Town. Today, we have five active clubs and close to 100 riders regularly taking part in local race events.

Our clubs include Kraaifontein BMX Club, Overberg BMX Club, Zone 7 BMX Club, Princess Vlei BMX Club and Highlands BMX Club. This year, Fittees will be helping to grow the sport by attending cycling events across the province and introducing riders from other cycling disciplines to the excitement of BMX racing. We will also be creating a new range of Western Cape BMX merchandise, including five new T-shirt designs, hoodies and caps for local riders, families and supporters.
